The port of Djen Djen is renowned for its unrivalled yields at national level and for docking ships as soon as they arrive.
Over the past fifteen years, the port of Djen Djen has established itself as the national leader in handling ships carrying various types of pipes.
With more than 700 ships carrying pipes handled since 2009, transporting more than 3.5 million tonnes, the port of Djen Djen has become a specialist in this field and is considered the most important link in the logistics chain, thanks to the skills acquired over the years and the proven expertise recognised and praised by customers and partners. In addition to its human resources, the port has all the necessary conditions in place to successfully unload pipes in complete safety and in accordance with customer requirements (space, equipment, stacking and preservation methods, etc.).

Procédure de traitement
For each handling operation, the port of Djen Djen provides a standard handling plan that describes:
- the handling equipment to be used.
- the lifting plan with all the capacities of the equipment provided.
- risk assessment and associated prevention plan.
- the number of persons required
- intermediate storage conditions.
The preparation and allocation of human and material resources is carried out in accordance with the consignee’s request and depending on the type of tubes, the requirements of the operation, and the distance from the storage location. At this stage, the handling managers decide on the type of equipment and means of transport to be used.
Stockage et préservation
The pipes are stored on a hard, even surface. Under the first layer, wooden bars are required. The distance between the different rows is greater than 0.5 m. The minimum width of the wooden bar is 2 inches (5 cm).
The port company DJEN DJEN stores the pipes and ensures that:

- All labels on the tubes must be preserved.
- The wood used in wooden frames is in good condition and must remain dry.
- All caps and protectors must be correctly in place and must not be damaged.
- The surfaces of the tubes must be free of scratches and handling marks.
It should be noted that the port of Djen Djen was the subject of a favourable PROLOGVLR – 01 inspection report (DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCTS AND PACKAGING VALLOUREC REV 00).
